- At the AGM, Board members were elected / re-elected. We are always interested in welcoming new Board members, so please consider joining the team – we always welcome and need fresh perspectives. And remember, even if you don’t wish to join as a Board Member, we welcome all assistance for the many initiatives being undertaken for the betterment of our Lake.
The following were items that all members should note/consider.
- If any member is interested in purchasing mats to install in their beach area, then the Board can help with information on suppliers and methods of installing.
- Please try to avoid the channel behind the Big Island, in order to ensure you are not picking up fragments of Starry Stonewort and spreading it to other areas of the Lake. If using the Public Boat Launch, then please make sure you stay between the channel that is marked by the white bottles.
- A Boater Protocol flyer has been created and posted in SSW tab of website. You are encouraged to print this flyer (double-sided) and provide it to any contractors or others that are being directed to use the Public Boat Launch, so they know to stay in the marked channel with their motor up.
- Visit PLiiNK.ca to find out more about the “Prevent Lake invasives in North Kawartha” initiative, which will be spreading the word about Aquatic Invasive Species and how to prevent their spread.
- If you know of good contractors / services in the area perhaps you (or we) could approach them so that our sponsor section can be used by cottagers to find recommended vendors.
- Send an email to Leo DeSorcy (ldesorcy@aol.com) if you are interested in naturalizing your shoreline.
- Be sure to view the video of the Wildland Fire Presentation on YouTube: Wildland Fire Presentation.
- Please meet up with us in Clam Bay just before 2 pm on Monday July 1, with your boat decorated as much as you want, to commemorate Canada Day for the Canada Day boat parade.
- Diane Trauzzi needs some assistance to take over one/some of the six different roles she currently performs for BCLSA. Please put your name forward if you are willing to help out.
- Encourage your neighbours to provide their e-mails to bigcedarlakesa@gmail.com to be added to the Lake distribution list , even if they are not interested in paying the membership and/or Healthy Lake fees. We try to always send messages using “BCC” option so people’s private e-mail addresses are not compromised.
