  1. At the AGM, Board members were elected / re-elected. We are always interested in welcoming new Board members, so please consider joining the team – we always welcome and need fresh perspectives. And remember, even if you don’t wish to join as a Board Member, we welcome all assistance for the many initiatives being undertaken for the betterment of our Lake.
  1. The position of Secretary is currently vacant. The Board is reaching out to all Members of the Association to consider joining the Board in this position. As Secretary you would be part of the Board team. We meet 3-4 times a year on Zoom calls to discuss and plan the various initiatives the Association is involved in. It is an excellent opportunity to get involved in what is happening around the Lake and have a say in what initiatives the Association should be focused on. No experience in other volunteer associations is required; other Board members are very supportive and will get you up to speed very quickly.

The following were items that all members should note/consider.

  • Send an email to the BCLSA mailbox to volunteer for the spring cleanup (being held June 20 with a rain-date of June 21), the tire cleanup (to be held late June), or to assist with Starry Stonewort clearing.
  • Starry Stonewort has now spread to other areas in our Lake. These will be marked with colourful buoys to ensure that you can avoid them. However, if you notice or suspect Starry Stonewort has spread to your shoreline , contact the BCLSA association to report these locations for marking and monitoring.
  • Any members interested in leading/assisting with the Deforestation Response initiative , or in leading the Fire Prevention Education initiative please email the BCLSA mailbox to volunteer
  • If you know of good contractors / services in the area perhaps you (or we) could approach them so that our sponsor section can be used by cottagers to find recommended vendors.
  • Please meet up with us in Clam Bay just before 2 pm on Wednesday July 1, with your boat decorated as much as you want, to commemorate Canada Day for the Canada Day boat parade.
  • Encourage your neighbours to provide their e-mails to bigcedarlakesa@gmail.com to be added to the Lake distribution list , even if they are not interested in paying the membership and/or Healthy Lake fees. We try to always send messages using “BCC” option so people’s private e-mail addresses are not compromised.
